Overview:

The NExT Program provides community based internships with an additional coaching and educational component for students with specials needs with the goal of supporting greater learning and success for students with individualized learning needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Complete assigned tasks (varied based on internship location). Additionally, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Youth Council, NExT students will participate in youth-led civic beautification projects as part of their internship experience. Students will work alongside community partners, including the Roxbury YMCA, D7 Café, and other neighborhood businesses and organizations, to help improve and maintain shared community spaces. Through these experiences, students will build workplace skills, develop a sense of civic responsibility, and take an active role in making the Roxbury community a cleaner, more welcoming, and connected place.

The Ideal Candidate for this Job:

-Boston Public Schools student with an active IEP
-Ages 18-22 and currently enrolled in BPS
-Able to participate in supervised exploration and activities
-Willing to engage in new environments and tasks
-Recommended by school or program staff
